"If you don't know what you are doing in Svalbard, Svalbard will kill you." This quote is taken from the recently-launched multimedia Alcalde article on the UT PGE/Jackson School of Geosciences journey to the Arctic this summer.

The Alcalde, The University of Texas at Austin's official alumni magazine, sent a reporter on the Statoil-sponsored trip to the northernmost city in the world, Svalbard, Norway. The reporter traveled along with 58 graduate students and 17 professors to journal the remarkable experiences engineers and geologists encountered, while studying the rich formations and history of the land to gain valuable knowledge in their respected disciplines.

To experience this unique opportunity read the "Classroom at the Edge of the World" article, which features stunning photos and video recorded during the 8-day expedition.
